Last weekend, I went to visit Emma in New York. In addition to plenty of fun New York-y things (bagels were eaten, runs were taken in Central Park), we had a little barbecue in her back garden. We grilled steak and veggies we bought at the farmer's market along with plenty of corn and tomatoes. For dessert, we had farmer's market fruit salad and cookies from Levain. It was the perfect way to celebrate summer- I can't wait to do it again.

Book Club and Barbecue
Last week when it was 95 degrees outside, we had a meeting of our book club.
It didn't really matter that I was the only one to actually finish the book- we are strict followers of Annie's book club suggestions, and as such, we discussed it for just a little while. Book club is mostly an excuse to get together, anyway.
95 degrees is too hot do really do anything besides a) swim or b) barbecue. I don't have a pool, so we went with b). It was really delicious.

Oysters with Cait
Recently I have been forced to accept the fact that one of my dearest Boston and Dartmouth friends, Cait, is leaving our city to go to graduate school in Denver.
That means that before she leaves, we have to have as many adventures as possible. A couple of saturdays ago, we met up after work for a trip to Mare in the North End for oysters. It was the perfect summer afternoon- white wine, briny oysters, and one of my favorite people.
She hasn't left yet, and I miss her already.

I'm not sure when summer became my favorite season, but it is. This summer, I'm spending a lot of time in the office (working with some truly fantastic kiddos), but when I'm not, I am all the more committed to enjoying it for all it's worth.
That means I'm spending a lot of time on the lake, reading magazines and eating Hoodsies.
I highly recommend it.
