On Roses

I am feeling rather stressed right now.
It's all about silly stuff- job, apartment, money- you know, the usual.
In the long run, this stuff doesn't really matter that much. In some way or another, it will work out. It always does. Stressing out about it more than necessary isn't going to help anything at all.
So I'm not going to think about my stress when I don't need to. Instead, I'm going to think about roses. Here in New England, late spring is a glorious time- all the flowers are finally in bloom, the farmers markets are getting started, and there are roses everywhere. They smell wonderful, and look even better.

Right now, rather than dwelling on the things that are freaking me out, I choose to dwell on the roses.

  1. Just take deep breaths and know this too shall pass. It seems cheesy but it's calming for me atleast. i just found your blog and it's too cute. Keep it up!

  2. I'm usually a very anxious and pessimistic person, I worry and stress out a lot. Yet lately, I've been extremely zen. Maybe it's because my fiancé worries more than I do so I tend to go the opposite way and try to be that much calmer in order to reassure him ? I don't know, but I do have this whole new perspective that, yes, it does seem to always work out :)

    And those roses are beautiful !

  4. Smart girl. Keep stopping to smell the roses, and hopefully all the little anxieties will eventually melt away. I know just how you feel, though, believe me. I seem to be in a similar stressful situation and I find it so hard not to think about all of it, all the time. I'm going to give myself an ulcer! That is, I was going to give myself an ulcer. But now I think I'll follow your lead, and go find some roses to dwell on. Thank you!

  5. I recommend stopping RIGHT NOW and making a list of 5 things in your life for which you are grateful. I promise you, as ridiculous as it may sound, it will change your perspective. Another useful thing, I've found, is to ask yourself "do I have everything I need right now?" If the answer is yes, then realize you are worrying about what MIGHT happen which is, at best, an intellectual activity, not a reality based one.
