Happy Monday, friends!
On Saturday, I was the kind of person I dream about being. I woke up early, ran nine miles, and made ganache for the cheesecake monstrosity that Ben requested for his birthday. (If you are my friend, you get to request whatever kind of birthday cake you want. I try to make my friendship worthwhile, you see.) Then I raced downtown, volunteered at a soup kitchen with Cait, and came home to make a cherry-cognac sauce and take the cheesecake monstrosity on the ride of its life.
{Don't you just love the red line? The cheesecake monstrosity does.}
{Why use birthday candles when skinny glowsticks are even more fun?}
{That brown smudge is a homemade brownie. The other one is the chocolate teddy graham crust. The third is the ganache. Missing from photo: the cherry-cognac sauce.}
Sunday I made up for all that active productivity by staring really hard at my computer and trying to get stuff done. I was moderately successful.
How about you? Lazy weekend? I think I'm maybe a little jealous.
um excuse me? stop posting things to make me so hungry, please! looks amaaaazing.
ReplyDeleteOMG! This post has me wanting to feed my sweet tooth and it is almost midnight. not good for the diet. lol. Have a yummy day!
ReplyDeleteI feel infinitely inferior. GEE, THANKS, ABBIE. Seriously, though, props on getting all that done - I'm so impressed!
ReplyDeleteYour weekend sounds fantastic! But I must admit we finally had the kind of weekend we always dream of having but always feel much too guilty to actually go through with: the completely lazy, stayed on the couch for the entire two days, only moved to shower and eat weekend. It was fabulous, and the fact that we felt a little guilty about it only made it better =)
ReplyDeleteholy crap I'm droooling!
ReplyDeleteThat is the best gift for a good friend. It's so thoughtful + tasty. :)
ReplyDeletethats so great you got so much done! this weekend the internet was my enemy and distracted me, i looked through smitten kitchens archives for a longggg time, longer than id like to admit and then sunday crammed all of my readings for classes in. that is so sweet that you let your friends pick what you bake for them on their birthday! id love to have someone like that around haha
ReplyDeleteWay to go on your run!! And, that ganache looks so yummy!
ReplyDeleteWow, I wish I had your energy. I've been so lazy lately. Jogging and baking--I think you motivated me a little.
