There is something about the ocean in New England.

With its freezing water and quiet beauty, I feel like the ocean in New England is a good stand-in for New England itself- my part of the country is not too flashy, and all the cold weather makes us seem a little unfriendly to the rest of the world.

Once you spend a little time here, though, you see just how gorgeous, how magical, the northeastern states can be.

I love it. A year later, I'm so glad I moved back.

  2. Absolutely! I almost like being at beaches more when it's foggy and chilly.

  6. The best roast beef sandwich you will ever have (seriously it'll change your life) is in this greasy little diner right off of the T stop near the beach... I think we should have a field trip there.

  9. mmm I have to substitute the N. shore of lake superior...it's a little like Maine once you take out the fijords, lobsters, and some of the population. Not the tourists, though. lots of those.

  10. I never think New Englanders are unfriendly. Maybe it's because I started traveling there alone at 15 so I didn't get a chance too. I travel there for work a lot and am so thankful I do. It opens the door for tons of blogger meet ups!

  13. Beautifully put, and I totally agree. Some of us were born New Englanders and some of us weren't but should have been. I moved here seven years ago and love it with my whole heart. It is definitely home.
