A lunchtime garden

When I left my last job, I was nervous about where I would eat lunch.

This is my favorite spot in the garden

See, old, pretend-scientist job was in the South End, so at lunch time, I would sometimes go for walks to take pictures and feel inspired. Now, while I'm much more suited to what I actually do at work every day, there aren't quite as many places to explore in the neighborhood.

You can see the Boston skyline from here.

Lucky for me, though, one day a coworker took us to this roof garden on top of the library. You can see the entire Boston skyline, not to mention surround yourself with green and sunlight. It's incredibly peaceful up there, and sitting in my favorite spot, eating my lunch and thinking my thoughts, has quickly become one of my most treasured rituals. It centers me, refocuses me for the second half of my day. I love it.

  2. Abbie, sometimes I wish I could marry you. Then you could inspire me and infuse me with happiness all the time. Any chances...? ;)

  3. I'm completely jealous. I love going home for lunch (Glee on Hulu!), but I think I might prefer your beautiful view!

and ps: the coconut and choco combo works with ice cream too! (but it's worth a go in gelato and sorbet form!)

  9. What a wonderful lunchtime spot! In my last job I had a great community garden I could go and sit in and eat my lunch, but in my current job there's nothing nearby. It upsets me every day!

ps: I read Virgin Suicides a long time ago, maybe 10 years ago. I remember it being really good, but perhaps I really need to re-read it.
